IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING
To avoid injury:
Keep children and pets away from the machine
Do not reach inside the machine except when it is unplugged and cool
Do not touch the heating compartment during operation.
If a
foreign object
falls inside, turn the machine upside down and try to shake it out. If it is
stuck, unplug the machine and wait for it to cool down before trying to remove it.
Otherwise treat your machine as you would any other piece of electrical equipment:
Keep it away from heat or water sources
Plug it in near an easily accessible outlet
Do not use if it is damaged in any way
Do not attempt to open or otherwise repair it
Turn it off after each use, and
Unplug it when not in use for an extended period.
S e t- u p
The only assembly required for your thermal binding machine is to attach the adjustable
cooling rack
. Using the illustration on the inside of the manual cover as a reference, push
the ends of the rack
)
into the holes
*
in the back of the machine. You can pull it out to
the width you need for your work, then push it back in and out of the way when you’re fin-
ished.
O p e r a t i o n
For thermal binding, you need to use specially designed covers, which are available in a
variety of spine widths. If your document is printed on standard office paper, you can find
the
right spine width
using the guide printed on the back of the machine. If you are not
sure of the paper’s weight or want a more precise measurement, lay the document on the
measuring ledge
&
and slide down the cursor
'
until it rests firmly against it. In the viewer
(
, you will see the width you need. If the document falls between two widths, it’s better to
take the larger one.
For the TB 450, if your document does not fit between the cursor
'
and the measuring
ledge
&
, this means that your document contains more than 360 pages. In that case,
please refer to the table on page 1 in order to select the proper thermal cover.
When measuring for spine width on the TB 450, you will also see a background color with
a number – yellow or orange . This corresponds to the
right heat cycle for your doc-
u m e n t
, which can run for 30 or 45 seconds respectively. If you want to bind more than one
document at a time, lay the combined stack, including covers, on the measuring ledge
&
in order to determine the right heat cycle. In either case, if the document(s) fall(s) between
two cycles, try the shorter one first to avoid overheating and damage.
If your document(s) do(es) not fit between the cursor
'
and the measuring ledge
&
, this
means that you must select red heat cycle . This cycle, which has a duration of 60 sec-
onds, is suitable for binding single or multiple documents of more than 360 pages.
The TB 250 has only one fixed heat cycle of 30 seconds but in order to obtain a perfectly
bound report, we advise you to repeat the heat cycle for thermal cover spine widths over
15mm / 5/8’’.
